*What this article is about? - how to improve search ranking, how to increase your google page rank

Search engine optimization SEO experts are always looking to find new ways to increase their Google rankings. As many people know, a website is a pretty good thing to have for plenty of reasons. But the truth is that if no one knows it exists, then it's pretty much useless.

Publish relevant content. Quality content is the number one factor in driving your SERP ranking; there is no better way.

Identify a keyword phrase for each page. Think about how your reader might search for that specific page (with phrases like “social media expert in Canada” which best applies to social networking and social marketing alike). Then, repeat this keyword phrase several times throughout the page content of your article.

  • When a user searches specifically for "social media expert in Canada", if your site has quality content, proper HTML formatting, and contextual anchor text links, the user should be able to find your site in the top ten results on Google.

Update your website content regularly. You should feel pretty strongly about content; search engines sure do! Regularly updated content on your website is very important and is viewed as one of the best indicators of a site’s relevancy, so be sure to keep it fresh.

Have a link-worthy site. Focus on creating relevant links within the text. Instead of having “click here” links, try writing out the name of the destination. “Click here” has no search engine value beyond the attached URL, whereas “web design Halifax” is rich with keywords and will improve your search engine rankings as well as the ranking of the page you are linking to.

Use alt tags. Always describe your visual and video media using alt tags, or alternative text descriptions.

TIP:
  • Google + is the foundation for all of Google’s products and services. If you share content located on your Google+ account then people can indicate that they like it by clicking on the Google+ button. This will help with ranking of content. So if the people in your Google+ network are logged in to Google while they are searching, your post will come up higher than people outside their network if the post is relevant.
